Two Girls Struck by Car in Long Beach

Two girls were transported to a hospital after they were struck by a car while crossing a Long Beach street, according to a police spokeswoman.

Officers at the scene reported that the girls' injuries were not life- threatening, according to Long Beach police spokeswoman Nancy Pratt. The girls, one 11 and one 12 years old, tried to cross at the 9 p.m. at the intersection of Atlantic Avenue and Adams Street, in North Long Beach, according to Pratt.

It was not clear whether they were walking in or near the crosswalk, Pratt said. The driver remained at the scene, and Pratt said she did not know whether the driver was cited. A video photographer at the scene said the girls were leaving a street carnival and were crossing the street without adult supervision when they were struck.
