Off the Wall: DIY LEGO Christmas Tree
Why buy someone else's LEGO Christmas tree when you can make your own?

The wall of bricks at the back of the LEGO Store may elude some. For others, it can be a treasure trove.... Last year I spent a lot more on LEGO products than even an Adult Fan of LEGO (AFOL) should. What can I say? I was working on a project. a 4’ x 8’ American Flag to be a tool for interaction at community outreach activities. It was the first ”quilt block” in a project I call Brick Quilt. Very cute idea, even I admit (or is that especially?). The second ’block’ in the quilt is a 4’ x 4’ eagle. To that end I collected lots of brown and black 1x2 plates (sorry to be speaking in LEGOease) as well as other colors and bricks I found on the back wall.
When you shop on the ”back wall” of ”pick a brick” bricks, it’s a hit or miss sort of scenario. Either you get what you want, or you don’t! BUT you also get the opportunity to find some cool, not often found, parts that you can stuff into a cup. Take the time to stuff it up... They don’t mind.
I’ve found horses, fences, translucent 1x2 bricks in smoke and clear, windows, doors and doorways and yes, even large geared turntables!

Last year I found lots of sloped green bricks, which lend themselves well to Christmas trees! Enjoy the photo! And yes, this blog post is about a year late, but Christmas comes every year, so I’m anticipating it will be read for many a year down line. Such is the nature of the internet, is it not?
