BELMONT SHORE, CA – The following is a collection of weekly police, court and fire stories from around the Belmont Shore-Naples area this week.

Police presented their case against Cherie Townsend to the LA District Attorney's Office, but prosecutors asked them to further investigate.

There was a report of a suspicious person looking into parked vehicles with a flashlight in Torrance, police said.

Rudy Ray Rockett Sr., 64, went missing in April while vacationing in New York.

The Automated License Plate Reader notified Manhattan Beach police of a stolen vehicle that entered city limits, police said.

Vasquez, a police officer, was diagnosed with blood cancer in 2007 and died in 2011. The annual blood drive is held in his memory.

Both drivers stopped and were interviewed by officers, and neither was arrested, the California Highway Patrol reported.
