Police: Woman and 2 Children Missing in Long Beach

Mentally disabled adult walked kids from an apartment complex to a fast food place that was closing, and trio last seen northbound on Santa Fe near Spring Street, police say.

Updated: 12:30 am Monday: The trio has not been found, although KNBC News reported at the 11 p.m. broadcast that surveillance cameras at surrounding fast food eateries show Williams and the children.

Long Beah Police Department issued the following alert at 11:10 a.m.:

Two children, and a mentally disabled adult female are missing and Long Beach Police is asking for the public’s help in locating them.

 On Saturday, June 9, 2012, at approximately 11:20 p.m., Long Beach Police responded to an apartment complex in the area of Santa Fe Avenue and Spring Street in regards to an adult female with mild mental retardation with the maturity level of an 8-year-old, and two children, a female 8-year-old and a male 6-year-old, who had been missing for several hours.  The three of them left the complex together with permission at approximately 4:45 p.m. last night to walk to a fast food restaurant down the street.  According to our investigation, the trio arrived at the restaurant at closing time, approximately 6:00 p.m., and were turned away.  They were last seen walking northbound on Santa Fe Avenue.

 Marie Williams - 25-years-old, 5’5” and 170 pounds with short brown hair and brown eyes. Was last seen wearing a turquoise short sleeve shirt, jean capris and dark tennis shoes.

 Sarah White – 8-years-old, 4’0” and 45 pounds with braided hair and brown eyes.  Was last seen wearing a white short sleeve shirt, jeans, and pink/black “Heelys” (tennis shoes with wheels).

 Nicholas Sanders – 6-years-old, 4’0” and 50 pounds with short hair and brown eyes.  He was last seen wearing a green/blue long sleeve button-down shirt, jeans, and black tennis shoes.

 Marie Williams resides at the complex with a relative.  Sarah White is from the Palmdale area and is in Long Beach with her mother visiting friends who reside at the same complex.  Nicholas Sanders and his family also reside at the complex.  There is no family relation between the three missing.

 The family searched the area unsuccessfully before calling police.  Long Beach Police actively searched for the missing through the night, and continue to do so as they follow-up on information.  All law enforcement agencies in the region have been notified, and local hospitals and public transportation agencies have been alerted.

 Anyone who may see these individuals or knows of their whereabouts is urged to call 9-1-1 immediately.
