2 Vallejo Freeway Onramps To Close Until 2023: Caltrans

Two I-80 onramps near Maritime Academy Drive are slated for long-term closure during a bridge project.

SOLANO COUNTY, CA — Caltrans announced the closure of two onramps to westbound Interstate Highway in Vallejo that are scheduled to close as begin pre-construction work begins for the Interstate Highway 80/State Highway 29 Separation Bridge project.

For public and worker safety, two onramps near Maritime Academy Drive are scheduled to close starting June 10 and will remain closed until approximately 2023: the Sequoia Avenue onramp to westbound I-80 and the SR-29/Sonoma Boulevard onramp to westbound to I-80.

"During these I-80 ramp closures, motorists are advised to use Magazine Street onramp and offramp and other I-80 entrances to access I-80 in Vallejo," said Vince Jacala, a spokesperson for Caltrans District 4.

The westbound I-80 offramp at Sequoia Avenue will remain open.

The eastbound I-80 offramp at SR-29/Sonoma Boulevard will be reduced from two to one lane and will remain largely open, but may be intermittently closed during various overnight closures.

"During the long-term ramp closures, Caltrans will begin work on replacing an elevated section of I-80 above the SR-29/Sonoma Blvd. exit in Vallejo," Jacala said. "Motorists should expect delays and watch for various detour signs within the construction zone."
