"A Love" by Mary Lou Haugh
A love so deep,
so good, so full
of beginnings, so
possible, yet soÂ
impossible too.
Yes, there is
such a love.
You have proven
this to me.
But somehow
you areÂ
more than love
itself. You are aÂ
mystery, the sweetestÂ
mystery I have everÂ
known. Without you,
joy could not touch
my heart with such
a luminous sensitivity.Â
Just the thoughtÂ
of you fills me
with an unknown
wonder, like glittering,
golden stardust inÂ
the silenceÂ
of dark nights.
You bring joy
like a ripened, tender,
purple plum,
the most delicious
one that growsÂ
on an ancient
phantom love tree,Â
whose roots
travel endlessly.
Your love isÂ
like a hunger
that swallows
me then spits
me out again,
remaking me with
a deeper, moreÂ
expansive senseÂ
of time, Â infusing me
with a magic 'knowing'
as huge as the
sky that shelters
earth now that Â
you are part
of me.
