Benicia Man Allegedly Assaults, Threatens Elderly Female Relative

Bay City News Service

A Benicia man was arrested Saturday after he allegedly assaulted and threatened to kill a female family member twice over the past week, police said Sunday.

Shane Nash, 34, allegedly assaulted a 66-year-old female relative on July 3rd inside of their Benicia home, slapping and strangling her and holding a knife to her throat, according to Lt. Frank Hartig.

Nash allegedly destroyed the victim's personal property inside the home during the assault, including her cell phone after she said she was calling police, Hartig said.

The victim did not call police after the first assault, but on Friday Nash allegedly assaulted her again. The victim called police around 11 p.m. to report that he had slapped and strangled her and threatened to kill her, but that she escaped, Hartig said.

Police obtained a warrant and arrested Nash at his home on the 300 block of West J Street on Saturday just after 4 p.m.

He was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, false imprisonment, terrorist threats, elder abuse and damaging a phone to prevent calling the police. Bail was set at $45,000.
