Benicia Police Log: Barking Dogs, Man Yelling at Pay Phone and Residential Burglaries

Friday, May 18, 2012

1:56 a.m.: Police arrested a 21-year-old Benicia man for drunk driving and leaving the scene of an accident.

4:05 a.m.: There was a man yelling at a pay phone in Solano Square.

4:59 a.m.: The guy who was yelling at the pay phone in Solano Square was back.  Officers gave him a warning.

5:20 a.m.: A burglar alarm at a business on Getty malfunctioned.

6:11 a.m.: Officers gave a warning to a suspicious person who was walking around on a school campus.

7:34 a.m.: Officers opened an investigation into the theft of items from a garage on Hanlon.

12:11 p.m.: Officers began an investigation into the theft of items from a garage on Belvedere.

12:38 p.m.: Officers mediated a civil situation where a non-tenant was invited onto the private property by a paying tenant at a First Street property.

1:53 p.m.: There was a non-injury traffic collision on East Third Street.

3:00 p.m.: There was a family disturbance on Dale.  The upset party was gone when officers arrived on the scene.

3:16 p.m.: Police received a report of a possible drunk driver on Columbus Parkway but were unable to locate the vehicle.

5:37 p.m.: The guy sleeping on a bench on Columbus Parkway was asked to move along.

6:00 p.m.: Officers calmed a pair of neighbors on Larkin who were arguing.

6:58 p.m.: A solicitor on Grove was investigated.

8:17 p.m.: An alarm was sounding at a business on East Fifth Street.

11:46 p.m.: Officers responded to a report of a domestic disturbance on East N Street.  When they arrived they wee informed that there was no disturbance.

1:13 a.m.: An open gate reported at a business on Egret was secured.

10:22 a.m.: Officers began an investigation into harassing text messages received by a resident on Riverview.

10:41 a.m.: Officers took a report on a vehicle that allegedly sustained damage after parking on a freshly paved street.

11:55 a.m.: A woman sitting on a sidewalk on London Circle was not in distress.

12:19 p.m.: There was a violation of a court order on East L Street.

12:28 p.m.: A citizen on Military East called police to report that an ex was refusing to leave.  The ex decided to leave after a discussion with officers.

1:37 p.m.: Police received a report of a suspicious vehicle full of kids on East L street.  The vehicle was gone when officers arrived.

2:57 p.m.: Officers began an investigation into a possible case of domestic violence on Southampton Road.

 3:20 p.m.: The guy walking on  Brentwood carrying a sleeping bag was on his way to a relative’s house.

 6:31 p.m.: A burglar alarm at a business on East Second Street malfunctioned.

7:15 p.m.: Officers were unable to locate the dog who was barking on Carlisle.

8:22 p.m.: Officers talked to the kids who jumped the fence at the pool area of a Southampton Road housing complex.  The kids left after the discussion.

9:23 p.m.: Officers gave a ride to a person who had had too much to drink.

10:55 p.m.: Officers received a report of a verbal altercation on Rankin.  It was over before officers arrived.

11:25 p.m.: A girl who had run away from home was located by a family member and reunited with her parents.

11:26 p.m.: Officers were unable to locate the barking dog on West I Street.

Sunday, May 20, 2012

12:14 a.m.: The hosts of a party on Warwick agreed to lower the volume.

2:34 a.m.: Officers received a report of shots fired in the vicinity of Raymond.  They were unable to locate anyone with a weapon.

5:34 a.m.: Officers received a report of a disturbance in a park on East Sixth Street but were unable to find the source.

7:06 a.m.: A 34-year-old was arrested on West I Street for burglary.

8:55 a.m.: A burglar alarm was activated at a residence on West H Street.

10:39 a.m.: There was a non-injury traffic collision on First Street.

11:02 a.m.: The flowers and plants in front of a First Street business were vandalized.

12:41p.m.: Officers stood by while a woman moved out of a residence on Riverview.  The woman was having a disagreement with her former roommate.

12:55 p.m.: Officers intervened when a man and woman got in an argument on Military East.

2:16 p.m.: A residential burglar alarm was accidentally activated on Kearney Street.

4:34 p.m.: Officers took a report on a custody dispute on Warwick.

5:30 p.m.: Officers were unable to locate the loud go-carts on McCall.

6:04 p.m.: There was a report of someone carrying a sign on Sunset.  The person was gone when officers arrived.

Editor’s Note:  Even though I inject a bit of humor into these police logs, please remember, the men and women whose job it is to protect us rarely find it funny when they are approaching a drunk person or a building where the alarm is going off.
