6:41 a.m.: There was a non-injury traffic collision on Lake Herman Road.

8:04 a.m.: The driver of a  slow moving car on Panorama that stopped next to a youngster, was being driven by the youngster’s dad.

8:49 a.m.: Officers got a report of a woman sleeping in a car on Military West.  Car and sleeper were gone when officers arrived.

9:13 a.m.: A resident on East Third Street asked for and received advice regarding an ongoing dispute with a neighbor.

9:20 a.m.: Police gave some advice regarding a civil matter between roommates.

10:07 a.m.: A residential burglar alarm was activated on West Fifth Street.  The homeowner was on the scene when officers arrived.

12:04 p.m.: A residential burglar alarm on Laurel appeared to malfunction.

1:08 p.m.: The Animal Control Officer was notified of a dog running around on Military East.

1:25 p.m.: A resident on Braemer reported hearing a gunshot coming from a hillside near their home.  Officers couldn’t locate anyone shooting a gun.

1:53 p.m.: Officers talked to the kids who were skateboarding in Solano Square.

2:22 p.m.: That car that tried to drive through the cemetery was towed away after it got stuck in the mud.

3:23 p.m.: A car parked in a No Parking zone on El Bonito was cited.

4:18 p.m.: Officers received a report of little kids riding little electric vehicles in the area of Grove.  Investigating officers found that the children were well supervised.

4:39 p.m.: Officers were unable to locate the kids raising a ruckus on Military East.

4:59 p.m.: Officers gave advice to a man who’s having an ongoing issue with an ex-girlfriend.

7:10 p.m.: There was no emergency at a home on Buena Tierra even though police received a 911 call from the residence.  It appeared to be a phone line issue.

7:33 p.m.: The suspicious person standing near an unfamiliar vehicle on Panorama  turned out to be a grandparent watching the grandchildren play.

8:14 p.m.: There was an accidental activation of a burglar alarm at a business on East Channel.

10:58 p.m.: Somebody egged a house on Capitol.

11:35 p.m.: The egg toss moved to Rose Drive.

5:19 a.m.: The suspicious circumstance reported on El Paseo turned out not to be so suspicious.

8:07 a.m.: There was a barking dog on Mills but no people around to let the dog in the house.

9:23 a.m.: The men passing out fliers on Rose Drive weren’t considered solicitors.

9:47 a.m.: A residential burglar alarm was sounding off in the area of Laurel.

10:06 a.m.: A home on McAllister was egged during the previous night.

2:32 p.m.: Two men were fighting on La Prenda.

3:47 p.m.: A garage door on Cambridge was left open all day.  Officers secured the door.

4:45 p.m.: A business alarm malfunctioned at a business on East Industrial.

4:58 p.m.: A homeowner on Goldenslopes failed to turn off the burglar alarm correctly.

6:55 p.m.: There was an unfamiliar car parked in the vicinity of Vecino.

7:21 p.m.: A 61year-old Benicia man was stopped while driving on Interstate 680 and was arrested for possession of methamphetamine.

9:21 p.m.:  Police broke up a fight on Stoneman.  Neither man involved in the fight wanted to press charges.

10:04 p.m.: A 21-year-old Sonora man was arrested for being drunk in public.

10:28 p.m.: There was a fight between to men on Buena Vista.

10:58 p.m.: A resident on Rankin asked police to help her convince her daughter to leave for the night.

11:17 p.m.: Officers people on Essex who were playing their music loudly agreed to turn it down after police arrived on the scene.

11:37 p.m.: A 43-year-old Benicia man was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.  The arrest took place in Solano Square.

1:26 a.m.: There was a fight on First Street that resulted in an injury.

1:49 a.m.: Police successfully stopped a drunk man from getting behind the wheel of his car on First Street.

3:09 a.m.: A resident on Grove reported hearing people talking behind the house.  Officers found no one there.

5:45 a.m.: An accidental alarm activation was reported on Panorama.

8:17 a.m.:  A resident on West K Street reported a gray car driving erratically.  The car was gone when officers arrived on the scene.

9:27 a.m.: A car on First Street was cited for a parking violation.

10:53 a.m.: A resident on Kearney reported there have been several small fires over the past few weeks in front of the neighbor’s house.

11:55 a.m.: There was a family disturbance on East L Street.

12:03 p.m.: A 49-year-old Benicia man was arrested on Columbus Parkway for breaking and entering and a probation violation.

1:18 p.m.: Two juveniles were arrested on Lansing for assault and battery.

2:38 p.m.: Officers secured the doors at a residence on Townsend.

3:16 p.m.: A wallet was allegedly stolen on East I Street.

4:43 p.m.: A burglar alarm at a business on East Industrial malfunctioned.

4:56 p.m.: A burglar alarm at a business on Military East malfunctioned.

5:05 p.m.: There was a report of a vehicle driving erratically on Palace Court.  The vehicle was gone when officers arrived.

5:19 p.m.: An employee at a business on Goodyear Road set off the burglar alarm.

5:22 p.m.: There was a juvenile disturbance reported in the vicinity of the spit at the end of first Street.

5:34 p.m.: Officers opened an investigation into the theft of presription medication from a home on Buena Vista.

6:00 p.m.: A boys bicycle was stolen on Southampton Road.

9:03 p.m.: The guy hanging out in a car on West L Street was eating and agreed to move on when he had finished his meal.

Editor’s Note:  Even though I inject a bit of humor into these police logs, please remember, the men and women whose job it is to protect us rarely find it funny when they are approaching a drunk person or a building where the alarm is going off.
