12:29 a.m.: Police arrested a 31-year-old Nevada man for driving  under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

1:45 a.m.: An alarm at a business on East Industrial malfunctioned.

3:24 a.m.: Some planter boxes on First Street were vandalized.

2:46 p.m.: A citizen on First Street requested to speak to an officer regarding a troubled friend.

3:27 p.m.: The skateboarders reported in Solano Square were gone when officers arrived.

5:27 p.m.: A burglar alarm malfunctioned at a First Street business.

5:46 p.m.: A burglar alarm malfunctioned at a Park Road business.

8:08 p.m.: A 53-year-old Vallejo man was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and two outstanding warrants issued in Solano county for shoplifting.

8:42 p.m.: Officers were unable to locate a suspicious person selling items on East Second Street.

8:49 p.m.: Officers were unable to locate a dog barking on West Eighth Street.

9:03 p.m.: Officers assisted a citizen on First Street whose car was blocked in by another vehicle.

9:15 p.m.: A burglar alarm at an East Second Street business was activated when the business owner forgot to lock the door.

9:40 p.m.: The suspicious person on Park Road was walking home.

10:12 p.m.: A citizen on East D Street reported a loud noise.

10:16 p.m.: A citizen on First Street complained about the noise generated by a live band.

10:37 p.m.: Officers talked to a family that was in the midst of a loud argument.

Saturday, June 9, 2012

12:17 a.m.: A citizen reported an open gate at the middle school.  When officers checked, the campus was secure.

12:38 a.m.: The loud noise reportedly coming from a residence on Devonshire had subsided when officers arrived on the scene.

6:23 a.m.: A resident on Southampton Road asked officers to talk to the owner of a car that has an alarm that goes off every morning.

10:01 a.m.: There was a family disturbance on West M Street.  Officers managed to separate the arguing parties.

11:05 a.m.: An error by an employee at a business on East Industrial led to a burglar alarm being activated.

11:26 a.m.: A business owner on Southampton Road reported a theft.

11:55 a.m.: The suspicious people hanging out on Gloria were visiting a friend.

2:03 p.m.: Officers left a warning for an illegally parked vehicle on Rose Drive.

2:04 p.m.: If you lost something in the vicinity of West Ninth Street on Saturday, the police may have it.  They picked up an unidentified piece of personal property.

2:45 p.m.: Officers stood by while a citizen retrieved some personal items from a residence on Chadwick.

3:12 p.m.: A burglar alarm at a residence on La Cruz malfunctioned.

4:24 p.m.: Officers responding to a burglar alarm activation on Bantry found nothing wrong.

4:46 p.m.: The panhandler on Military East got to talk to the police.

8:31 p.m.: Officers responded to a report of a fight on First Street.  The instigator was gone when officers arrived.

9:51 p.m.: Officers were able to defuse a family disturbance on Cove.

10:49 p.m.: On behalf of neighbors, officers spoke to the host of a loud party on Baylor and asked that the noise level come down.

11:14 p.m.: There were a bunch of kids hanging out on McAllister.  They were standing outside a party.

11:39 p.m.: Officers talked to the people on Brandon who were having a loud argument.

11:51 p.m.: The kids who were hanging about in a West K Street park and being generally noisy got to talk to police about where and when it is appropriate to be noisy.  Parks=yes.  Late at night=no

12:46 a.m.: The kids hanging out on Warwick went in for the night after officers arrived on the scene.

12:59 a.m.: There was a report of gun shots on West K Street but responding officers couldn’t find anyone with a gun.

1:15 a.m.: A 30-year-old Vallejo man was arrested on Columbus Parkway for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

1:37 a.m.: A group of kids on Iris was cited for curfew violation then sent home.

2:28 a.m.: Officers were unable to find a vehicle that was reportedly speeding on Hanlon.

2:57 a.m.: Officers responded to a call about a loud party on Mountview and noted all was quiet when they arrived on the scene.

3:39 a.m.: Officers arrested a 27-year-old Vallejo woman who was suspected of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

6:13 a.m.: A Stone Road business’ burglar alarm was activated for no known reason.

7:05 a.m.: A burglar alarm at a business on Teal malfunctioned.

7:12 a.m.: A car was reported stolen on Church Street.  The car was later recovered in Vacaville.

7:47 a.m.: A burglar alarm activation at a Solano Square business appeared to be a malfunction.

8:37 a.m.: Officers spoke to some East L Street residents who were having a loud argument.

8:54 a.m.: Officers opened an investigation into a car being vandalized on Sandy Way.

2:57 p.m.: Officers were able to calm the warring parties in an argument on Arguello.

4:30 p.m.: An Indiana Street business’ burglar alarm was activated but police couldn’t find a burglar.

5:13 pm.: Police received a report of a car illegally parked on Military East.  Upon arrival at the scene they found the car was parked legally.

5:26 p.m.: There was another burglar alarm activation on Indiana and once more responding officers wouldn’t find anything amiss.

7:07 p.m.: The guys racing dirt bikes on West Channel Road were doing it on private property.

7:31 p.m.: An alarm at an East Industrial Way business appeared to be malfunctioning.

7:33 p.m.: There was a big group of folks smoking on West Fifth Street.  Officers who arrived on the scene found that nothing illegal was being smoked.

7:59 p.m.: Police received a report of three people trying to cause trouble on East B Street.  When officers arrived on the scene they found that the three trouble-makers were gone.

9:53 p.m.: A residential burglar alarm on Addison appeared to malfunction.

10:12 p.m.: Officers investigating a report of people trying to start a fire on Hillcrest found some people attempting to extinguish a barbecue.

10:48 p.m.: A minor was cited for possession of alcohol on East Sixth Street.

11:13 p.m.: Officers, though not invited, came to a party on Rose Drive to talk to the host regarding appropriate noise levels for a party the night before the neighbors had to get up and go to work.

Editor’s Note:  Even though I inject a bit of humor into these police logs, please remember, the men and women whose job it is to protect us rarely find it funny when they are approaching a drunk person or a building where the alarm is going off.
