Benicia Police Log: Suspicious Vehicle Delivering Newspapers, Arguments and Assault

1:17 a.m.: That slow moving vehicle spotted on Military East was delivering newspapers.
7:18 a.m.: A burglar alarm at a business on East Industrial appeared to have malfunctioned.

8:19 a.m.: Officers issued a citation for an illegally parked vehicle on East Second Street.
9:26 a.m.: An adult brother and sister on Dover were having a heated argument.  The brother left before officers arrived.

9:46 a.m.: A homeowner on Cambridge failed to turn off the burglar alarm in a timely manner.
11:41 a.m.: Officers issued a citation for an illegally parked car on Oxford.
11:43 a.m.: Two Benicia women, a 20-year-old and a 24-year-old were arrested on a variety of charges including assault and possession of stolen property.
12:29 p.m.: Officers responded to an East Third Street residence where a mother and her adult son were having an argument.
12:35 p.m.: A resident on East Third Street reported seeing some kids throw a backpack into the back of a parked truck. Investigating officers found the truck but no backpack.
1:21 p.m.: A resident on Lori reported a car in the area with no license plates. Officers talked to the owner of the vehicle.
2:23 p.m.: Police received a report of a disoriented man charging a vehicle on East Third Street. They couldn’t find the disoriented man.
3:37 p.m.: The suspicious vehicle parked near the middle school on Southampton road was occupied by the parent of a middle school student.
3:47 p.m.: Officers received a report of a possible drunk driver on westbound Interstate 780. They were unable to locate the vehicle and passed the information on to the California Highway Patrol.
4:01 p.m.: Those two boys who were cussing and generally exhibiting bad behavior got to have a discussion with police officers. Then their parents were called and the parents got to have a discussion with police officers.
5:07 p.m.: Police received a report of a man and a child sitting for a long time in a vehicle parked on West K Street. Investigation officers found the car but it was empty.
6:28 p.m.: Officers were unable to locate the possible drunk driver reported on Rose Drive.
6:55 p.m.: Officers received a report of cars illegally parked on Hillcrest. The cars were gone when officers arrived.
7:05 p.m.: Officers received reports of aggressive solicitors on Southampton Road. They were unable to locate the solicitors.
8:09 p.m.: A citizen on Southampton Road requested to speak to an officer regarding an issue with his daughter.
8:31 p.m.: Police received one call regarding possible shots fired in the vicinity of East Second Street.
8:38 p.m.: Officers gave a warning to a person making harassing phone calls.
Editor’s Note: Even though I inject a bit of humor into these police logs, please remember, the men and women whose job it is to protect us rarely find it funny when they are approaching a drunk person or a building where the alarm is going off.
