Caltrans To Close I-80 Overnight For 2 Consecutive Nights

I-80 will be completely closed in one direction at a time for two consecutive nights to lower the bridge spans on Springs Road Overcrossing.

SOLANO COUNTY, CA — Two consecutive full overnight closures are planned this week for Interstate Highway 80 in Vallejo as the Six Bridges Project enters its final stage of work on the Springs Road Overcrossing, Caltrans announced.

"I-80 will be completely closed in one direction at a time for two consecutive nights to lower the bridge spans on Springs Road Overcrossing," said Caltrans District 4 Spokesperson Pedro Quintana. "A detour will be in place."

From 11 p.m. Wednesday, March 17 until 4 a.m. Thursday, March 18, westbound I-80 will be closed — weather permitting— between Interstate Highway-780 and state Highway 37.

Then from 11:59 p.m. Thursday, March 18, until 5 a.m. Friday, March 19, eastbound I-80 will be closed — weather permitting— between Interstate Highway-780 and state Highway 37.

"During the I-80 closure times, eastbound or westbound I-80 onramps in Vallejo will be closed as needed to facilitate the work safely," Quintana said. "Detour signs will be posted."

Motorists traveling eastbound on I-80 will need to access I-780 to State Route 29 to State Route 37 to I-80. Motorists traveling westbound on I-80 will need to take State Route 37 to State Route 29 to I-780 to I-80.

Ongoing Springs Road Overcrossing Closure

Shuttle service is available 24/7 for pedestrians and bicyclists who need to safely cross the Springs Road Overcrossing, with one shuttle stop located on each side of the bridge. The phone number for shuttle service is 415- 263-4000.

I-80 Six Bridges Project

The Interstate 80 Six Bridges Project in Vallejo entails increasing the vertical clearance on six overcrossings that cross over Interstate Highway 80 just north of the Carquinez Bridge in the city of Vallejo.

Caltrans is working on the bridges one at a time, starting with Springs Road, followed by Magazine Street, Benicia Road, Georgia Street, Tennessee Street and Redwood Street, respectively.

A hotline has been set up for the traveling public and residents living in Vallejo to learn about the most up-to-date information about the project.
