Caltrans Confirms Westbound I-80 Closure, Reschedules Eastbound

The overnight closure of eastbound Interstate Highway 80 in Vallejo has been rescheduled but the westbound closure is still Wednesday night.

SOLANO COUNTY, CA — Caltrans is moving forward with the full overnight freeway closure Wednesday night of westbound Interstate Highway 80 in Vallejo but has rescheduled the overnight freeway closure for eastbound I-80.

From 11 p.m. Wednesday, March 17, until 4 a.m. Thursday, March 18, westbound I-80 will be closed from state Highway 37 to Interstate Highway 780. Motorists traveling westbound on I-80 will need to take SR-37 to SR-29 to I-780 to I-80.

The full overnight closure of eastbound I-80 between I-780 and SR-37 was scheduled to start Thursday night but has been rescheduled to occur — weather permitting — from 1 a.m. to 6 a.m. on Saturday, March 20. Motorists traveling eastbound on I-80 will need to access I-780 to State Route 29 to State Route 37 to I-80.

Detours will be in place and signs will be posted, Caltrans District 4 Spokesperson Pedro Quintana said.

"During the I-80 closure times, eastbound or westbound I-80 onramps in Vallejo will be closed as needed to facilitate the work safely," Quintana said, noting that Caltrans is nearing the final stage of work on the Springs Road Overcrossing — the first phase of the I-80 Six Bridges Project.
