Crash Closes Benicia-Martinez Bridge, Injuries Reported: CHP

BENICIA, CA — Major injuries were reported Friday afternoon in a rollover crash on the Benicia-Martinez Bridge.

The solo-vehicle crash happened at 2:35 p.m. midway on the southbound span of Interstate Highway 680 and blocked the left lanes, California Highway Patrol said.

A Sig-alert was issued for the bridge at 2:54 p.m. because a landing zone was needed for a helicopter, CHP reported.

Two women were in the vehicle that crashed; they were treated at a hospital for injuries considered serious but not life-threatening, CHP spokesman Officer Brandon Correia said.
