I-80 Reopens After Brush Fire In Solano County

A car fire spread to vegetation along the freeway in Vallejo, prompting lane closures.

SOLANO COUNTY, CA — Interstate Highway 80 reopened Tuesday evening after a vegetation fire was sparked by a burning vehicle near the American Canyon Road offramp in Solano County.

The blaze was reported around 5:30 p.m. on westbound I-80 in Vallejo and the California Highway Patrol issued a sig alert because the incident was blocking two lanes.

Units from Cal Fire and local fire departments responded as embers from the initial fire spread to other areas by the freeway and flames got close to power lines, according to the CHP.

Around 7:40 p.m., all lanes of westbound I-80 were reportedly open.

However, firefighters were at the scene until at least 9 p.m., news reports indicated.

The blaze scorched around 3 acres and broke out just as a red flag warning expired for Solano County.
