I-80 Six Bridges Project: Caltrans To Close Springs Road Bridge

SOLANO COUNTY, CA — Caltrans is set to begin construction on the Interstate 80 Six Bridges Project in Vallejo, which entails increasing the vertical clearance on six overcrossings that cross over Interstate Highway 80 just north of the Carquinez Bridge in the city of Vallejo.

Caltrans will work on the bridges one at a time, starting with Springs Road, followed by Magazine Street, Benicia Road, Georgia Street, Tennessee Street and Redwood Street, respectively.

Springs Road Bridge Closed At I-80 Beginning The Week of Nov. 16

For the safety of workers and the public, Caltrans will close eastbound and westbound Springs Road at I-80 for four months, from Nov. 16 until mid-February, Caltrans officials said Tuesday in a news release.

Westbound Detour Route

Motorists traveling westbound on Springs Road will need to turn right onto Humboldt Street, make a left turn onto westbound Tennessee Street, make another left turn onto southbound Mariposa Street and back to Springs Road.

Eastbound Detour Route

Motorists traveling eastbound on Springs Road will need to turn left on northbound Mariposa Street, right turn on eastbound Tennessee Street and a right turn onto southbound Humboldt Street to Springs Road.

Springs Road Bridge will be completely closed to motorists, pedestrians and bicyclists, day and night, during the four-month construction period.

Shuttle Service Available

A 24-hour shuttle service is available for pedestrians and bicyclists who need to cross the Springs Road Bridge during the four-month closure. Go to i80sixbridgesvallejo.com for information about the shuttle service.

Caltrans Bay Area and Solano County Transit —SolTrans — are collaborating on making sure bus services continue to run in the area while construction is underway. Routes 7A and 7B will detour around Springs Road overcrossing to Tennessee Street, causing a 5-10 minute delay after the 7A stop at Springs and Humboldt (Stop ID 822060) and the 7B stop at Florida and Solano (Stop ID 821096).

Vallejo Transit Center departure times will not be affected.
