Large Vaccination Event Scheduled At Solano County Fairgrounds

Solano County is now vaccinating people 65 and older who have preexisting medical conditions.

SOLANO COUNTY, CA — A large-scale coronavirus vaccination event is scheduled for Saturday at the Solano County Fairgrounds for residents within the eligible tiers, which in Solano County now includes those 65 and older who have a preexisting health condition.

The event is called the Solano County COVID-19 Vaccination Hub and takes place in the Expo Hall at the Solano County Fairgrounds, 900 Fairgrounds Dr. in Vallejo.

To be included in the vaccination event Saturday, eligible residents need to book an appointment online or call 707-784-8655.

Those vaccinated Saturday at the Solano County COVID-19 Vaccination Hub will be asked to return to the fairgrounds on Saturday, March 20, to receive their second dose.

Vaccine Rollout In Solano County

As of Thursday afternoon, 51,900 people have been vaccinated in Solano County and 20,500 have received the second dose.

By extending vaccine eligibility to residents 65-74 with medical conditions, Solano County has begun the first step of Phase 1B, Tier 1 of the state's vaccination rollout plan.

Up next will be residents 65-74 who do not have a medical condition, according to the county's Vaccine Distribution web page.

After that, teachers, educators and people who work in child care and adult day care can get vaccinated. In the final step of Phase 1B, Tier 1, people who work in agriculture will be eligible.

In Phase 1B, Tier 2, people who work in jails will be eligible.

Residents who sign up for Solano County’s Vaccine Interest Form are notified as soon as they become eligible.

Information about where to get vaccinated is posted on the county's website.

Residents can also check with their health care providers; Kaiser and Sutter are doing vaccinations for members only, while NorthBay Health Care is providing vaccines for non-members.

Pharmacies including CVS, Rite-Aid and Safeway are also providing vaccines to residents 65 and older. There may be a fee associated.
