Longterm I-80 Ramp Closures Near Cal Maritime In Vallejo

Caltrans expects the Sequoia Avenue and Highway 29/Sonoma Boulevard onramps to westbound Interstate Highway 80 to remain closed until 2023.

VALLEJO, CA — Caltrans expects the long-term closure of two freeway onramps near California State University, Maritime Academy in Vallejo to start Friday to accommodate pre-construction work on the Interstate 80/State Route 29 Separation Bridge project.

For public and worker safety, the Sequoia Avenue and SR-29/Sonoma Boulevard onramps to westbound I-80 will be closed from June 11 until approximately 2023, Caltrans said in a news release.

The offramp from westbound I-80 to Sequoia Avenue will remain open.

Caltrans will reduce the eastbound I-80 offramp at SR-29/Sonoma Boulevard from two lanes to one lane and expects to keep the offramp open with the exception of intermittent overnight closures.

For access to Vallejo and I-80 during these ramp closures, Caltrans advises motorists to use the Magazine Street on- and off-ramps and Curtola Parkway (I-780), among other I-80 entrances.

Caltrans has a webpage set up for the I-80/SR-29 Separation Bridge Project Vallejo.

"During the long-term ramp closures, Caltrans will begin work on replacing an elevated section of I-80 above the SR-29/Sonoma Blvd. exit in Vallejo," Caltrans District 4 Spokesman Pedro Quintana said. "Motorists should expect delays and watch for various detour signs within the construction zone."
