Missing Petaluma Man's Cell Phone Traced to Vallejo Area

By Bay City News

Police are searching for a 49-year-old at-risk Petaluma man who went missing on Wednesday. A cell phone carrier suggests he could be in the Vallejo area.

A family member reported John Wirth missing after he left home Monday morning on his red "Pacific" bicycle and did not return home that evening, police said.

According to police, Wirth suffered a traumatic brain injury in a motorcycle accident several years ago. He gets confused and is unable to perform daily functions without help.

Wirth has a cellular phone that he does not know how to use. His phone was tracked to Vallejo with the assistance of the cell phone carrier. Police do not know how he traveled to Vallejo and have not been able to confirm that he is in Vallejo.

Wirth is described as a white man, standing about 6 feet and weighing about 180 pounds. He has hazel eyes and brown hair with a full beard, police said.

He was wearing a long-sleeved blue shirt with red stripes, a beige baseball cap, black pants, and black shoes with green trim.

Anyone who locates Wirth is asked to notify police at (707) 778-4372.
