Now Your Renewals Are Automatic In Benicia Public Library

What does that mean?

Three days before your books and media are due, the Library system will attempt to renew any items that are checked out. If successful, your loan period will be extended for 21 days from the existing due date, an additional full loan period. If unsuccessful, the item will retain its original due date.

How will I know if my books and media renewed?

• If you have opted to receive email notifications (see below), you will receive a notice 3 days before they are due stating that some or all of your items have renewed and to please check your account to make sure they did. It will also state that the following items listed did not renew and need to be returned to the library by the due date stated OR
• If you have not opted for email notification, you can check your account online OR
• You can call the library and the staff will verify your renewals.

How do I sign up for email notifications or receipts?

You may sign-up for email notification through Your Account feature on the Library’s website.

• Under Opt-In & Notification, Receipts is the last option. If you select email as your notice preference, the Library will notify you of the new due date via email.
• Be sure to add your email address to the contact information by clicking on Change Contact Info.

How many times will it renew my books and media?

If your books and media are available for renewal they will be renewed up to two times.

Why will my item not renew?

• Your item has holds - other people have requested the item.
• The item has been renewed twice already.
• Link+ and Inter-Library Loan items will not renew automatically. (Link+ is currently down due to COVID-19) You must call the library, 707-746-4343 ext 2, and request a renewal 1-3 days before it is due.
• The Lucky Day or Browse books and DVDs can only be checked out once and cannot be renewed. These items are new and popular and people are waiting for them.
• Items that you have obtained special permission to borrow cannot be renewed.
• Electronic devices like LaunchPads and eReaders cannot be renewed.

Can I renew my items early?

You may renew early through Your Account, or by calling 707-746-4343. If you renew early, your items will be due three weeks from the day you renew NOT the due date.

Can I opt out of Automatic Renewal?

Automatic renewal is an automatic process that applies to all cardholder accounts. If you don't wish to keep an item, please return it when you're finished.
