Police Log: Student Arrested, Drummers Drumming and a Car Not Stolen

6:39 a.m.: A business alarm was activated on East Industrial.  Officers determined it was a malfunction.

9:40 a.m.: A kid who lives on Buena Vista was refusing to go to school but had a change of heart after a discussion with officers and even accepted an invitation to ride to school in a police car.

9:44 a.m.: There was an attempted vehicle theft on Southampton Road.

10: 27 a.m.: A 15-year-old boy was arrested at the high school for being in possession of a knife.

11:23 a.m.: Officers were unable to locate the three people trying to panhandle bus fare to Antioch.

12:07 p.m.: Officer took a report on a non-injury traffic collision on Military West.

1:13 p.m.: The man who was reportedly acting suspicious in the vicinity of Sanborn was actually a staying with family in town.

1:58 p.m.: The guy who was playing the car stereo at a high volume agreed to turn it down.  He was on Military East when he made the agreement.

6:20 p.m.: Officers talked to a person who was hanging out near an electrical box on I-780.

6:24 p.m.: The person making harassing phone calls to a resident on West D Street was contacted by police.

6:25 p.m.: Officers took time to train some East L Street neighbors the fine art of communication.  They taught one neighbor how to talk to the guy playing drums and ask him to play quietly.

6:43 p.m.: There was a non-injury traffic collision on West J Street.

7:49 p.m.: Officers were unable to find a couple of people who were reportedly drinking alcohol in front of the Starbucks in Southampton Center.

8:53 p.m.: Those folks on East L Street who appeared to be arguing loudly weren’t, they were just being loud.

9:23 p.m.: A business alarm activation on West 11th Street appeared to be a malfunction.

9:37 p.m.: The alarm activation on First Street was also a malfunction.

11:37 p.m.: Something suspicious happened on East N Street.  The official police log doesn’t give an indication of what the suspicious circumstance was.

Editor’s Note:  Even though I inject a bit of humor into these police logs, please remember, the men and women whose job it is to protect us rarely find it funny when they are approaching a drunk person or a building where the alarm is going off.
