VACAVILLE, CA —Vacaville police shot and killed a man following a pursuit Tuesday night in which the man allegedly rammed a patrol vehicle with his truck, injuring an officer, police said.

The pursuit began at about 8:35 p.m. after an officer saw a gray Dodge Dakota being driven recklessly through the back parking lot of City Hall at 650 Merchant St.

The officer tried to pull over the truck but the man fled and a pursuit ensued as other officers responded to the area of Davis Street, according to police.

An officer said over police radio that his vehicle had been rammed, and the pursuit then continued to the area of Davis Street and Bella Vista Road, where officers said they were going to use a "pursuit intervention technique" to try to stop the truck, police said.

The Police Department said in a news release that three police officers then fired their guns at some point, striking the man, who was eventually pronounced dead at the scene. Police did not say what prompted the officers to open fire, and the man's name has not been released.
