Solano County Man Dies In Port Costa Crash: CHP
The driver was not properly restrained when his minivan hit a tree, the CHP said.
PORT COSTA, CA — A Vallejo man died Wednesday in a crash off Carquinez Scenic Drive in Port Costa, the California Highway Patrol said.
Contra Costa CHP was alerted at 6:49 p.m. Wednesday about the crash west of Canyon Lake Drive, and officers responded to find a gray Dodge Grand Caravan was driven off the roadway to the north side of Carquinez Scenic Drive.
The van went down an embankment and into a tree, the CHP said.

No other cars were believed to be involved in the incident.
The driver, a 64-year-old man, was riding alone in the van. He was not wearing his seatbelt properly and suffered fatal injuries, the CHP said.

Emergency medical personnel pronounced the Vallejo man dead at the scene.
The Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Coroners Office was expected to identify the man once his family members were properly notified.
The crash remained under investigation, and the CHP did not immediately know whether alcohol or drugs were factors.
