Solano County Student Art Faire Taking Place

Here's how and when to check it out.

From the Solano County Office of Education: The Solano County Office of Education (SCOE) Youth Development Department, in partnership with SafeQuest Solano, is hosting a free student art faire May 16th - 22nd (weekdays only) from 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. at 5100 Business Center Drive in Fairfield. The Solano County Student Art Faire will feature art from local students in grades four through twelve.

An Artists’ Reception took place on Tuesday, May 15th. The reception was a special showing for the students who entered this year’s exhibit, their families, and school and district staff. For many of these young artists, this was the first time their art was displayed for the public.

“The annual student art faire exhibits the amazing creative talents of our local young artists. Our community can be very proud of these pupils’ work as well as that of their instructors who teach them daily about sharing ideas and emotions through artistic expression,” says Solano County Superintendent of Schools, Lisette Estrella-Henderson.

Students from 25 schools throughout our county submitted approximately 300 art pieces in a variety of categories including computer art, clay pottery, sculpture, drawing, fiber, mixed media, painting, photography, and printmaking. Performance ribbons were awarded to students who placed first, second, third, or received honorable mention in each category.

SafeQuest Solano provided cash prizes for the Best of Show winners, as well as artwork selected by the Solano Youth Coalition. SafeQuest is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing prevention education, community training, advocacy, and intervention services to victims of trauma such as domestic violence and sexual assault. “SCOE appreciates all its partnerships. This is a great example of how our Solano community-based organizations donate resources in support of our young people who are the community leaders of tomorrow,” says Solano County Superintendent of Schools Lissette Estrella-Henderson.
