Vallejo water maintenance crews found the source of a water leak on Mare Island Monday night and were making repairs Tuesday.

VALLEJO - Vallejo water maintenance crews found the source of a water leak on Mare Island Monday night and are making repairs today, city officials said.

Crews found a damaged joint in a water main in an underground vault along the Mare Island waterfront around 9:30 p.m. and turned off an isolation valve to stop the leak, according to city officials.

Emergency repair crews are at the site and no residents are affected as of this morning, city officials said.

The leak was discovered Monday morning when unusually high water usage on Mare Island indicated a water leak.

Crews worked through Monday to find the leak as water treatment plant crews monitored water pressure and quality.
