But to show up
Begin again
Like with a friend
A mirror always there
With glaring truths
Ones I need to own
The place called home
Where something unknown
Wants to live.

Now that you’ve read the poem, here is a commentary by Benicia Patch Poetry Maestro Jeff Burkhart:
Today’s poem is entitled “To A Piece of Paper” and was written by Jady Montgomery. Let me tell you what I love about this piece. Any of us that spend our time putting our thoughts, dreams and impressions to words knows the process evolves. Writing doesn’t come naturally. It is a skill that must be learned and refined. I’m not talking about penmanship. This poem is about the art of writing; what it is and what it becomes. I remember my first attempts. The words just didn’t tell the story that was in my mind. There must have been some unseen, evil editor altering my meaning. Some of the words and statements were too weak and some were way over the top. I stuck to it. Through time I came to know my craft and myself better. Take it from Jady because it’s true. Writing is a refuge, a psychiatrist, a friend……a truth detector.
Until next Friday,
Jeff Burkhart
