Use, Sale Of Fireworks Illegal In Benicia: Fire Department
"The Benicia Fire Department is concerned about the very real threat of open space fires caused by illegal fireworks."
BENICIA, CA — As the celebration of Independence Day approaches, the Benicia Fire Department reminded everyone that the sale and use of all fireworks are banned in the city of Benicia, including fireworks that are referred to as “safe and sane.”
"Thousands of people are injured each year by fireworks around the 4th of July. Not only do
fireworks present the danger of causing physical injuries, they also cause fires," Benicia Fire Chief Josh Chadwick said. "With the devastating destruction of whole neighborhoods due to wildfires caused errant sparks, and our current drought conditions, the Benicia Fire Department is concerned about the very real threat of open space fires caused by illegal fireworks. For these reasons, ALL fireworks are illegal in Benicia, subjecting the user to arrest and prosecution."
