Berkeley Home Values Growing at Scorching Pace

A new report shows that 9 of the top 20 cities with the fastest increasing home values are in the Bay Area.

Berkeley homeowners can rejoice in the knowledge that home values are rising at one of the fastest paces in the country.

According to Nerd Wallet, 9 of the top 20 cities with the fastest increasing home values across America were right here in the Bay Area, most of those in Silicon Valley.

The agency says they analyzed data from the real estate site Zillow to find the cities with the biggest increase in home values since 2009.

Berkeley finished at No. 48, with home values rising 32 percent during the time scrutinized. In Dec. 2014, the median price of a home here was $868,600.

Here’s the top 20 list, and as you’ll see, the Silicon Valley area is home to many:

  6. Redwood City

  12. Santa Clara
  13. Manhattan Beach
  14. Wharton Township, Pennsylvania
  15. Louisville, Colorado
  16. Rochester, Michigan
  17. Sapulpa, Oklahoma
  18. Hermosa Beach
  19. Miami Beach, Florida
  20. Burlingame
