Visions for Vacancies: Gilman and Curtis Streets

At the corner of Gilman and Curtis streets, under the BART tracks, sits a vacant parcel on a very busy corner.

Commuters walk past in the morning and afternoon, as do local shoppers in the Westbrae neighborhood. It's home to Berkeley Bagels, Lalime's, Berkeley Natural Grocery and Westbrae Nursery. Newcomers include Blue Heron Bikes and Kiku Sushi.

Over the summer, Bazaar Gilman departed the corner. According to a Facebook post at that time, Nicole Valerie Schach wrote: "I am now in Old Oakland partnering in a friend's space. Please come visit us at Piper and John General Goods 465 9th street between Broadway and Washington."
