A little while later, a gray BMW traveling east on Sunset collided with another vehicle. The BMW spun out and hit a fire hydrant, causing the fire hydrant to flood the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Bedford Drive. Myers said that the two drivers exchanged information and no injuries were reported, but the water department was called to stop the hydrant.
Myers estimated that a total of nine officers from the BHPD and the LAPD West Traffic Divison were called to respond to the three separate events that marked one of their busiest mornings since the start of the COVID pandemic.
Myers added that portions of Santa Monica Boulevard were briefly shut down.
