Beverly Hills Attorney Arrested
Update on Michael H. Inman, who is accused of trying to smuggle drugs into an inmate holding area at the Criminal Courts Building downtown.

Update: On June 17, four felony counts were filed against Michael H. Inman. He appeared at the same courthouse where he is accused of trying to smuggle heroin into an inmate lockup area. Inman did not enter a plea to one count each of possession of a controlled substance in a jail, possession for sale of a controlled substance, sale or transportation of a controlled substance and bringing drugs into a jail. The Beverly Hills-based attorney was arrested on Tuesday morning after allegedly attempting to smuggle 14.25 grams of heroin into the Criminal Courts Building, 210 W. Temple St., where he was meeting two defendants he was representing in a burglary and receiving stolen property case, authorities said. During a routine drug check, Sheriff's deputies using a drug-sniffing dog allegedly discovered a baggie of heroin in a secure area where only Inman was waiting. Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Hilleri G. Merritt ordered Inman jailed in lieu of $125,000 bail pending arraignment. At the defense's request, the arraignment has been postponed until July 19. If convicted, Inman faces up to five years in state prison, according to the District Attorney's Office.
