Beverly Hills Will Close Down Rodeo Drive Election Day

BEVERLY HILLS, CA — Prepping to keep the peace should demonstrations or protests occur during Election Day, Beverly Hills police and city officials announced a portion of Rodeo Drive will be closed, some merchants may limit operations and law enforcement will be on "full alert."

From Monday, Nov. 2, at 11:59 p.m. to Wednesday, Nov. 4, again at 11:59 p.m., Rodeo Drive will be closed to cars and pedestrians from South Santa Monica Boulevard to Wilshire Boulevard, officials said. There also will be no access to Rodeo from Brighton or Dayton ways.

As part of a "proactive approach to ensure a safe community for residents, businesses and visitors," the Beverly Hills Police Department "will be on full alert throughout the residential and business districts," the city said, adding that private security companies also are coordinating with BHPD.

“While we are hopeful for peaceful weeks ahead, your police department is prepared to protect and serve,” said BHPD Chief Dominick Rivetti.

As a "precautionary measure," some Beverly Hills businesses may choose to limit operations and the city may take preventive actions to protect city facilities and property, officials said. On Friday morning, businesses on Rodeo Drive were reported boarding up their windows.
