BEVERLY HILLS, CA —Multiple drones have flown over the Coldwater Canyon home of Prince Harry and his wife Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, in an apparent effort by paparazzi photographers to take pictures of them and their son, Archie. The Duke and Duchess reported at least five privacy invasions to the Los Angeles Police Department, it was reported Wednesday.

The incidents occurred on May 9, 19, 21, and on Memorial Day, according to the LAPD. According to a report in Los Angeles Magazine, the couple believe that the drones are operated by paparazzi since they saw photos online and in magazines of themselves playing with their dog in the yard of the house believed to be owned by entertainment mogul Tyler Perry.

"They see these drones coming in at them, and they guess that they are being operated by photographers, but they can't just assume that. Meghan received racist death threats at the time of her wedding, so the terror threat is very real for them," a friend of the couple told The Daily Beast.

The friend also told The Daily Beast that the couple has been the focus of an “unimaginable” level of press intrusion. The friend reported that the couple have been hounded on the streets as well, claiming that they were followed aggressively by two paparazzi cars, an eerie callback to the death of Prince Harry’s mother, Princess Diana.

According to Los Angeles Magazine, the couple plans to hire and pay for their own permanent security force, since the U.S. government has announced that it will not fund their security.
