Fire Contained At Beverly Hills High School
A fire broke out in equipment used to burn off excess oil well gases at the Beverly Hills school.
BEVERLY HILLS, CA — A fire broke out Tuesday at Beverly Hills High School in equipment used to burn off excess oil well gases.
The fire was reported about 5 p.m. at the school at 241 Moreno Drive, according to city spokesman Keith Sterling.
"The fire is contained and was limited to a flare unit, a piece of equipment used to burn off excess oil well gases," Sterling said.

The unit involved is on the school's softball field, he said.
There is a cluster of wells on the campus.

"The threat has been mitigated from spreading to the oil well compound (at the school site)," Sterling said.
There was no explosion, he said.
There were no immediate reports of injuries.
An investigation into the cause of the fire was underway, Sterling said.
