BEVERLY HILLS, CA — The devil winds are back. Santa Ana winds have blown into Southern California, bringing critical fire weather and resulting in a fire weather watch for much of Los Angeles and inland Orange counties.

"Gusty north to northeast winds for the next several nights and mornings will turn primarily northeasterly for the latter half of the week. Damaging Santa Ana winds are possible across the mountains between Thursday," the National Weather Service said Tuesday.

Winds could hit up to 50 mph in the valleys, and 50 to 55 mph in the mountains Wednesday and Thursday night. These winds will be so strong, they may be able to take down power lines, forecasters say.

A Red Flag Warning was issued last Wednesday throughout Southern California, and 2,041 customers in Los Angeles County and 2,958 customers in Ventura County had their power shut off by SCE on Thanksgiving to avoid huge winds sparking fires.

Hopefully the winds will die down by the holidays.
