Get Hitched On The Spur Today In Beverly Hills

Because it's Valentines Day, spontaneous lovebirds can get hitched at the Beverly Hills County office without an appointment.

BEVERLY HILLS, CA — Couples with their hearts set on a Valentine's Day wedding can get married at a county office Wednesday with no appointment required.

They may encounter a bit of a line as more than 250 couples countywide are likely to have the same idea, if past years are any guide.

But it's all in a days' work for county employees, who are used to a steady flow of weddings even on less romantic dates. The Registrar- Recorder/County Clerk's main office in Norwalk, its busiest location, averages about 48 weddings on a typical day and conducted 84 last Valentine's Day, according to spokeswoman Brenda Duran.

The fee for a civil wedding ceremony is $35. A separate fee is charged for the marriage license: $91 for a public license and $85 for a confidential license.

Couples can apply for the license online at www.lavote.net. The Norwalk office at 12400 Imperial Highway will be open for ceremonies from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and district offices in Beverly Hills, Lancaster, Van Nuys, Florence/Firestone, East Los Angeles and near Los Angeles International Airport -- for lovebirds heading right out on their honeymoon -- will be open until 4 p.m.
