GLAAD To Present Awards For Portrayal Of LGBT People, Issues
The nomination for "Bohemian Rhapsody" was withdrawn after allegations of sexual misconduct against director Bryan Singer.
BEVERLY HILLS, CA – "Blockers," "Crazy Rich Asians," "Deadpool 2," "The Girl in the Spider's Web" and "Love, Simon" will compete Thursday evening for the top film honor at the 30th annual GLAAD Media Awards, which recognize fair and accurate representations of LGBTQ people and issues.
The movies are nominated for the GLAAD Media Award for outstanding wide-release film. Notably absent from the list of nominees is "Bohemian Rhapsody," the biopic about the rock band Queen and iconic lead singer Freddie Mercury. GLAAD announced in January the film was withdrawn from consideration due to renewed allegations of sexual misconduct against director Bryan Singer.
Rami Malek won the Oscar for best actor for his portrayal of Mercury.
