BEVERLY HILLS, CA — 2020’s dysfunction is already spilling over into 2021.

On Monday morning, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced that the 2021 Golden Globes will take place on Feb. 28 at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills.

Normally, the Golden Globes take place on the first Sunday of the calendar year, so the 2021 ceremony comes almost two months later than usual. The postponement comes largely due to delayed film and television production schedules, and other coronavirus complications.

The 2021 Golden Globes will now take place on the date that was originally planned for the 2021 Academy Awards, which the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced last week will now also take place nearly two months later than usual on April 25, 2021.

“To accommodate both domestic and international film and television productions, the [Hollywood Foreign Press Association] will provide further guidance around eligibility, voting period and revised nominations announcement timing in the coming weeks,” the organization said.
