Janet Jackson 'Scream' Outfit Sells For $125K At Auction

BEVERLY HILLS, CA — The prices that some important Janet Jackson memorabilia fetched over the weekend at a Beverly Hills auction might make you “scream.”

The singer’s iconic outfit in the 1996 movie “Scream” - consisting of cone-textured long sleeve-shirt, black leather pants, and black leather boots - fetched $125,000 Saturday at “Iconic Treasures From the Legendary Career and Life of Janet Jackson,” a three-day online auction held in honor of Jackson’s 55th birthday.

Jackson partnered with Julien’s Auctions to sell more than 1,000 items from her career. Part of the hundreds of thousands raised went to Compassion International, an organization helping children in poverty.

Many of Jackson’s other unique clothes from over the years fetched comparable prices. The original jacket, black cap, and black satin gloves from her 1990 Rhythm Nation Tour sold for $81,250, while a floor-length metallic silver coat from designer Helen Storey sold for $50,000.

The famous clothes had some famous buyers: Kim Kardashian spent $25,000 on the cropped suede top and black lace-up pants that Jackson wore in the music video for her 1993 song “If.”

“Happy birthday queen!” Kardashian wrote on Instagram, along with a clip of Jackson in the video. “For @janetjackson’s bday bc I’m such a fan I can’t believe I won this on juliens_auctions.”

“Thank you so much @kimkardashian!” Jackson replied in an Instagram story. “I hope ‘IF’ gives u as much pleasure as it did me.”

Other notable sales from the auction included Jackson’s silver-tone hoop earrings with a dangling key worn at the 1987 Soul Train Awards and Rhythm Nation Tour, which sold for $43,750; and a silver-string bikini with a pair of matching pants worn underneath her Helen Storey coat sold for $26,500.
