Jay Belson on Automation in the Home

Automation is becoming more and more integrated in our lives. Jay Belson discusses automation tools that we could see in homes throughout LA

Over the past few years, technology in the home has advanced at a rapid rate. Automation in the home is taking the idea of a “smart house” to the next level. If you’re looking for home automation gadgets, check out these recent additions to the marketplace. We could even see some of these elements in LA developments soon!

Temi – This home navigating robot is perfect for those looking to combine multiple digital devices into one place. This sleek black robot is 3.2 feet tall with a 10.1-inch QHD LCD touchscreen. Temi is capable of providing the latest entertainment updates, taking photos on demand, streaming music, and making video calls all while you move around your home. The obstacle avoidance technology and LiDAR technology makes Temi perfect for controlling other smart home technologies as well.

Vector – Featuring a lot of technology in a little design, Vector fits in the palm of your hand making him a cute addition to your household. This little machine has an HD camera, four microphones, and an infrared laser scanner with the capability to recognize each family member’s face and voice. Vector can help you by setting timers, telling you the news, taking pictures, and answering a variety of questions. Constant connection to the cloud allows this device to update instantaneously.

Jibo – This smart speaker is a lot like Amazon’s Alexa products but with a better personality. Jibo is a relationship-focused robot that loves to be social and helpful around the house. Working as a “smart home hub,” this astronaut-looking device controls your connected devices, streams music, and tells you the news and weather. Jibo does all of this while remaining personable; he works to understand your home and personality preferences.

Lynx – Completely powered by Amazon’s Alexa, Lynx is capable of doing everything current Alexa products can do but on the go. According to Mansion Global, “The multitalented machine also has a 1080-pixel camera with face detection and a five-input digital microphone array, allowing the little guy to play guardian of your home, patrolling the property and sending encrypted video to your smartphone when it senses changes in light and motion.” You also can completely control Lynx via avatar mode, allowing you to speak and listen through the device as well as take pictures.

These devices are a great starting point for adding automation to your smart home.
