TIES THAT BIND—The Jewish Community Foundation of Los Angeles (The Foundation) recently hosted a welcome luncheon for Hillel Newman (third from left), Israel’s newly appointed Consul General for Los Angeles and the Southwestern United States. The gathering afforded Newman the opportunity to provide an in-depth analysis of the current state of affairs in Israel and to learn more about The Foundation’s grantmaking in support of Israel. Last year, The Foundation and its 1,300 donor families awarded $15 million in grants to a wide range of causes in Israel, including $1.5 million in Foundation Israel Grants supporting economic development and Jewish identity.
