Kumquat featured dishes in 2020 Santa Monica Restaurant Week

The new decade 2020 features healthy flavors of Kumquat during Santa Monica Restaurant Week Jan 6-12, 2020.

This new decade 2020 the Kumquat is the signature fruit for Santa Monica Restaurant Week on January 6th through the 12, 2020. The new year will bring new resolutions for healthier eating and lifestyle and this year Santa Monica Restaurant Week will feature signature dishes with the Kumquat fruit to kick start the decade with a week-long celebration.

Santa Monica's Restaurant week is in conjunction with California restaurant month and 37 local Santa Monica restaurants will offer specialty crafted dishes all created to highlight the benefits of this year's featured ingredient the Kumquat.

A private meeting of foodie and lifestyle journalists were invited to savor and taste a few of the delectable Kumquat dishes made from the grape-sized citrus fruit, with the edible peel created by a few select featured restaurants.

Little Prince located on 2424 Main Street was one, which hosted a media tasting. Starting with sparkling white wine while serving their featured brunch savior fare breakfast pumpkin toast with burrata covered with kumquats and pumpkin seed crumble from the seasonal Farmers market. The pumpkin has small notes of citrus served on the Clark Street bread a sourdough from their custom wood oven.

Michaels in Santa Monica a landmark restaurant celebrating its 40th year in business started a new bar menu with $15 dishes with chopped salad and sliders their new specialty features a Baja style wild yellowtail Crudo of diced wild baby yellowtail aguachile sauce and kumquats garnish with sliced kumquats radishes and cilantro.

On the list, for must-try dishes their Baja seafood platter Vampire Steak and Shrimp tacos also for vegetarians, Jackfruit tinga tacos and guacamole with fabulously delicious dipping sauces. Salmon Poke is a featured restaurant week dish with kumquat ponzu sauce Serrano, cucumber, rice, fennel, and sesame seeds.

The signature dish features Koji fried California Quail Kumquat and Calabrian chile sweet and sour cilantro and mint. The chef explained he prepares the dish for two weeks of special curating of sauces. Lovely views with wonderful Mediterranean dips and champagne lounges at the rooftop pool located at 700 Wilshire Blvd.
