LA County Airbnb Hosts Earned $613 Million In 2018

LA County homeowners rake in the most money on Airbnb statewide, hosting around 2.7 million guests last year alone.

BEVERLY HILLS, CA – Los Angeles County was the number one destination for Airbnb customers in California last year, the hospitality company announced Wednesday. LA County Airbnb hosts welcomed around 2.7 million guests and earned a combined $613 million in 2018.

LA County residents are increasingly embracing home sharing as an option for supplemental income, the press release said. There are now more than 27,000 LA County hosts, typically each earning more than $11,000 annually.

In California, Airbnb hosts earned $2 billion and welcomed 9 million guest in 2018, the press release said.

The top ten counties in California making the most total host income through Airbnb in 2018 are:

  1. Los Angeles County, $613 million
  2. San Diego, $213 million
  3. San Francisco, $143 million
  4. Riverside, $110 million
  5. Orange, $105 million
  6. Santa Clara, $90 million
  7. San Bernardino, $84 million
  8. Alameda, $64 million
  9. San Mateo, $60 million
  10. Sonoma, $49 million
