Officials from the county’s Avoid the 100 DUI Task Force reported early figures beginning from 12 a.m. Thursday night through 12 a.m. Monday totaling 685 arrests for drivers under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

The numbers are the earliest estimates released today and are likely to change.

Avoid programs are named for the numbers of law enforcement agencies in each county. Law enforcement officers will conduct other Avoid campaigns this summer, ending with the Labor Day weekend.

Funding for the program is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
