Police Blotter: Cable Cutting, Robbery and Thieves Playing Dress Up

A suspect also brandishes a handgun to rob a jewelry store.

Cable cutter

During the day of Aug. 23, a bike was stolen on the 9200 block of Alden Drive. Someone cut the cable that was securing the bike to an open apartment staircase. The victim reported a loss of $600.

De-jeweled

Just before 1 p.m. on Aug. 23, a robbery occurred on the 200 block of South Robertson Boulevard. A suspect described as being about 30 years old, 6-feet tall and weighing 180 pounds entered a store, brandished a handgun and stole $258,000 worth of jewelry.

Hand it over

At 9:45 a.m. on Aug. 24, a man described as being about 50 years old with black hair robbed someone on the 100 block of South Beverly Drive. The suspect approached the victim, demanded her jewelry and purse, and then fled with the property. The victim reported a loss of $95,000.

Conceal and steal

At 3:30 p.m. on Aug. 24, a man described as being about 20 years old with black hair and brown eyes stole merchandise from a business on the 300 block of North Rodeo Drive. The suspect concealed $400 worth of goods under his shirt and fled.

Alarmed

Between noon and 2 p.m. on Aug. 25, someone tried to break into a home on the 700 block of North Sierra Drive. The person accessed the property through the back yard by climbing up onto a brick wall, and from there onto the roof. The assailant then forced open an upstairs window, but was possibly scared off by the house alarm.

Dress up

During the night of Aug. 25, two people entered a building on the 9100 block of Wilshire Boulevard dressed as couriers. One of the men, described as being about 35 years old, 5-feet, 8-inches tall and weighing 250 pounds, removed property valued at $2,000 and fled through a back exit.

Distracted

At noon on Aug. 26, a man described as being about 55 years old and 6-feet tall stole goods from a store on the 400 block of North Bedford Drive. The suspect entered the location, distracted employees, removed goods valued at $4,650 and left.

Domestic dispute

At 3 p.m. on Aug. 28, an assault allegedly occurred in a home on the 500 block of Haynes Avenue.
