One drink could be the standard for drunken driving – at least for some people if the National Transporation Safety Board has its way.
On Tuesday, the NTSB recommended states lower the blood-alcohol threshold for driving under the influence from 0.08 percent to 0.05 percent.
Beverly Hills has had its problems with incidents related to drunken driving. According to data from the California Office of Traffic Safety, Beverly Hills ranked sixth in California for cities with populations between 25,001 and 50,000 for deaths and injuries related to to alcohol in 2010. (Beverly Hills also ranked first in all collisions in its category in the same year.)
According to one estimate, one drink is likely to create this blood alcohol-level in the average woman.
