Son Of Billionaire Ron Burkle Found Dead At 27

Andrew Burkle, who was a producer with In Good Company Films, was found dead in his Beverly Hills home.

BEVERLY HILLS, CA — The 27-year-old son of billionaire businessman Ronald Burkle was found dead in his Beverly Hills home, it was reported Tuesday.

Sources told People that Andrew Burkle, a producer, is believed to have died early Monday in his apartment. His 67-year-old father went to his home and was with police at the scene, the magazine reported.

Police and fire personnel were sent to the 100 block of Spalding Drive about 7:25 p.m. Monday on a report of an unconscious man inside a home, and that person was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Beverly Hills Police Department. They did not release the man's name, and police said the cause of death will have to be determined by the coroner's office.

"It is with deepest regret and sadness that we announce the death of Andrew C. Burkle on January 6, 2020 in Beverly Hills, California," a family statement posted by People said. "He is deeply loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed. Andrew was known as a young man full of life and entrepreneurial energy. Everyone he met commented on his humble demeanor and hard work."

"While the family appreciates the outpouring of love and support, they ask that the privacy of the family be respected during this difficult time," the statement said. "There are no further details at this time."

The 27-year-old is survived by father Ron, mother Janet Duitson, sister Carrie Harr and brother John Burkle.

Andrew's father Ron is a co-founder of The Yucaipa Companies and a co- owner of the Pittsburgh Penguins hockey team. He's also a prominent democratic donor and activist. Burkle's net worth was estimated at $2 billion as of 2018, and he was ranked #633 on Forbes' list of "The Richest People on the Planet 2014."

According to Forbes, the businessman has invested in companies like Uber, Airbnb and Foursquare.

Andrew was a producer with In Good Company Films in Los Angeles, which he ran with partner Andrew Alter. He was an associate producer on 2019's "Airplane Mode."
