Students Robbed Near Beverly Hills High School
Two female suspects stole a gold necklace from one female student's neck, and attempted to steal a cell phone from another.
BEVERLY HILLS, CA —Two Beverly Hills High School students were robbed approaching the school Monday afternoon, the district has confirmed.
The attack occurred just outside the school at the intersection of Lasky and Moreno drives at 4:30 p.m. Monday, according to Beverly Hills Police Department spokesperson Lt. Max Subin. Two female students reported that two female suspects stole a gold necklace from one of their necks, and tried to steal a cell phone from another.
The suspects fled the area, and no weapons were present, according to Subin. The robbery is the subject of an ongoing investigation by Beverly Hills Unified School District and the Beverly Hills Police Department.

Superintendent Michael Bregy said that the students were returning to the school for an after school activity when they were accosted. The victims appear to have been chosen at random, Bregy said, because they were not wearing any identifiable BHHS paraphernalia.
Bregy said students handled the matter in “the safest and most effective way possible throughout this incident.” Bregy said that Beverly Hills police arrived on scene within two minutes, and he attended the scene shortly after.

"There is no indication of any further danger or threat to our community," Bregy wrote.
In the meantime, both unmarked and marked additional security are patrolling BHHS, Bregy announced.
The announcement comes days after anti-mask protesters held signs and tried to hand fliers to Hawthorne Elementary School students returning for the day. Students mostly ignored the protesters, and the event passed without any reportable incident. Monday’s robbery also follows a string of other jewelry-related robberies that occurred in broad daylight in or near Beverly Hills.
The most notable took place on March 4, when a woman was shot at the Il Pastaio Italian restaurant downtown as robbers tried to rob a man of his $500,000 watch.
More than half a dozen daytime Rolex robberies have taken place around Fairfax and Melrose since the beginning of the year. Two times in January, robbers tackled men to the ground for Rolex watches. On Jan. 20, two men attacked a man and stole his watch. On Jan. 30, robbers tackled a man on the 700 block of North Vista Street and also took his Rolex. As of March 12, the LAPD has arrested two suspects, though they have not disclosed for which incident.
