Week in Review: Baseball, Budgets and Metro’s Subway

SUNDAY

The week started out with a feature on Beverly Hills Little League, which celebrated the season's end June 5 at La Cienega Park.

MONDAY

We kicked off Monday with the site's first Rescue Dog of the Week. This time we featured Barrett, a white bulldog with one blue eye and one brown eye.

Our Monday Farmers' Market column came next. Look out for columnist David De Bacco next time you're there.

That post was followed by a profile of Beverly Hills High School senior Jin Soo Park, who is taking his considerable musical talents to the Marines.

TUESDAY

We posted an in-depth article on the proposed extension of Metro's purple line through Beverly Hills. Metro held a community meeting at the Roxbury Park Community Center on June 7 to discuss the project.

WEDNESDAY

We started things off with a profile of local author Mary Hanlon Stone and her unique team of teenage assistants.

The day wrapped with a post about the City Council's approval of budget cuts.

THURSDAY

The day started with a video about Beverly Hills' scenic park art and an explanation of how the art is funded.

 BHHS columnist Daniel Shofet came next with a piece about finals and stress.

Then came an article about the Maple Counseling Center, which may need to cut programs due to a budget shortfall.

We finished the day with our first Countdown to Graduation, a feature on a graduating BHHS senior.

FRIDAY

The day began with another Countdown to Graduation. We'll be posting these short conversations with BHHS seniors up until graduation day June 18.

Next came the second of  this week's police blotters. Then came a brief on a fatal accident on North Whittier Drive near Sunset Boulevard.

SATURDAY

The weekend began with a video asking people in Beverly Hills what they thought about a subway coming through town.

The day ended with another Countdown to Graduation.
