West Hollywood Leases Log Cabin From Beverly Hills

West Hollywood will lease 621 N. Robertson Boulevard from Beverly Hills; the 'Log Cabin' will be subleased to a treatment center

WEST HOLLYWOOD, CA – The City of Beverly Hills has leased a property at 621 North Robertson Boulevard – known as the “Log Cabin” – to the City of West Hollywood for a period of twelve months. The City of West Hollywood (where the Log Cabin is located, despite being owned by Beverly Hills until now), intends to sublease the property to the West Hollywood Recovery Center, which will continue to offer the addiction recovery services currently offered at the site.

For the past 83 years, the Log Cabin was leased to the Lions Club of West Hollywood, a chapter of the international service organization. The City of Beverly Hills gave the club until March 31 to vacate. “We sincerely appreciate the work of the Lions Club over many years to support community organizations and provide valuable meeting space,” said Beverly Hills Mayor Lester Friedman.

“It is unbelievable that the Beverly Hills City Council approved to lease/sell the Log Cabin without a transparent public procurement process to the City of West Hollywood for $5,750,000 while the West Hollywood Lions Club offered $8,000,000,” the club wrote on its Facebook page.

Despite the controversy, the mayors of West Hollywood and Beverly Hills expressed satisfaction with the deal. “We are pleased to have reached an agreement with our neighbors in West Hollywood to allow the crucial services of at the Log Cabin to continue,” said Beverly Hills Mayor Lester Friedman.

“We are thrilled to be able to secure this space to safeguard vital recovery services. Tens of thousands of people have been helped by the 12-Step meetings offered at this ‘Log Cabin,’ and with the addition of the West Hollywood Recovery Center as the lead nonprofit, we can count on another four decades of meetings and community recovery,” said West Hollywood Mayor John D’Amico.
